Toxoplasmosis

Can you believe that in all the years I've had cats in my household, and for as long as I've been working at vet clinics (almost 8 years now!), I've NEVER been exposed to Toxoplasmosis! At my appointment a week ago, the nurse agreed that I in all likelihood had already been exposed and would be immune. She ordered a test just to make sure and she called today with the results. I'm not immune! So now I've got to be EXTRA careful, gloves, mask, the whole bit when doing litter boxes at work. Not doing them period is just not an option, it's almost the only thing I have left to do at this point. So.. that's the news for today.

Otherwise things have been mild this week. Mild morning sickness. Mild uterus pain. Mild boob soreness. Not too much else to report! This waiting game seems to be going sooooo sloooooow!

We're having a BBQ with Jackie (my friend/coworker), Mike (Drews friend/coworker) and Family tomorrow. Lets just hope it doesn't rain! I'm so tired of the rain!

They're HERE!!

Ultrasound Pics!!!!! Yep, the day finally came! Drew and I got up this morning and headed to base for my doctors appointment. It started off by going over my lab work, which was all 100% normal!!! I have no diseases, I'm not a carrier of cystic fibrosis, my blood count looks good, and my blood type is A+ (See, I was meant to be a perfectionist.. JUST KIDDING!), so I don't have to worry about Rh factors. I then had to get the dreaded pap, we wont go into detail, I'm sure you understand!

After that I was to head to the Ultrasound room where Drew was going to meet up with me. They told me I would have to stay undressed and in my front opening gown, so I gathered up my belongings and held on tight to my gown and I scurried with the nurse down the hallway. As we rounded the corner, we came face to face with an open door and a waiting room full of people..HELLO!! Practically naked here! So we turned the other way and went the long way. As we rounded the OTHER corner to make the final dash to the ultrasound room, there was a whole family mother, two kids, and father standing in the middle of the hallway. I give up! I'm sure more people than that will see parts of me I never though would be exposed by the time this is all said and done. Being caught in my hospital gown is surely nothing to worry about!

Now, what you've all been waiting for. The pics!!

Baby's heartbeat, between 160-170 bpms, it sounded like a squish squish noise and was so cool! Once we could hear it, I swore that I could feel the babys heart beating!!

One of my favorites, baby's head, two hands, two feet, and umbilical cord.
In the "fetal position". How ironic, or not.
The baby.. what a cute little butt!

My favorite, I think it looks like baby is blowing us kisses!!!
If you click on the photos you can see them larger as well. Lots of fun today! The only bummer news I got is they wont do the sexing ultrasound until 22 weeks!!! thats like 6 weeks past when they can tell!! Hopefully it will be REALLY obvious by then, and baby cooperates. So we have a looong 12 week wait. We'll get to hear the heartbeat at our checkups in between though. My next appointment isn't for 6 weeks, in which I'll do a 1 hour glucose test, and the triple screen.

All for now, i'll update more this weekend!

10 week photo

I'm 10 weeks today.. yay!!!! Here's my photo to mark the time. Don't mind the disheveled look, it's 11:30PM (way past my bedtime these days). I remembered I had a photo to take so and to try and make myself SOMEWHAT presentable. :)

As you can see, still not showing much, but thickening up a little in the tummy area, and of course the bosom (oh when oh when will my new bras arrive??) So, hi!! I wish I could see all of you also!

Woohoo!

I actually felt well enough to go to the gym today! It was really nice, though I am tired now, and I started to feel a LITTLE nauseous at the end of the trip, but thats okay. I'm really starting to feel flabby and mushy after a few weeks away from working out. I know it's bound to happen, but already? Sheesh! I haven't gained anymore weight, but I can tell I'm losing a bit of muscle tone. Hopefully I can work on that a little more in the coming months.

I bought loads of fresh fruit at the market on Thursday and it's GOOD stuff! Cherries, Peaches, Oranges, Apricots and Strawberries to nibble on. Everything is ripe and sweet. It definitely hits the spot.

Work has been rough, I'm glad I only work 3 days a week right now, but they are SO long, and being on my feet all day just leaves me utterly exhausted. Tuesday through Thursday I do nothing but work, eat, sleep and pee. Story of my life. Speaking of pee (I bet you ALWAYS wanted to know this stuff about me) its increasing 10 fold. I wake up anywhere from two to five times during the night to relieve my bladder. I think this is my body's way of conditioning itself to life after childbirth. I just want a full nights sleep! I go crazy with that groggy, not sure which way is up feeling when I awake in the middle of the night. If its early enough in the morning, the birds are starting to sing loudly (around 4AM) and falling back asleep isn't easy.

Morning sickness is better this week, I've been chewing cinnamon gum and it seems to be doing the trick. I still get small waves here and there, but its not constant, and thats whats important! Less than a week now until our first ultrasound! I'm not showing yet, but I'm definitely thickening in the middle, not a pretty sight if you ask me! I seem to be losing the shape of what used to be my hips and waist, and morphing into something that looks like a giant amoeba, or perhaps the little green guy from ghostbusters (just not green, thank goodness). Okay, maybe not that bad, but theres definitely some change going on.

I'll update with more pictures this weekend. Can you believe I'll be 10 weeks on Sunday? Getting closer and closer to getting out of this first trimester. Time flies, yet at the same time, seems so slow. Until next time, ciao!

Getting closer!

Yay, it's June! Only 2 more weeks until we get to have our first ultrasound! I'm very excited. It's been a busy and LOOONG week, filled with lots of nausea, and tired legs! I'm feeling oh so scatterbrained, but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I'm ALWAYS like this, not just because I'm pregnant. I don't know, I guess we'll find out later! I'm also starting to have to pee more, just like the books said I would. Of course, drinking a ton of water probably doesn't help matters much either.

Nothing too exciting this week. Though I did get a great deal on some bras at Lane Bryant. I had to buy some new ones because I'm popping out of the ones I had! Hopefully these will do the trick.

My goal this week is to eat better, no matter HOW sick I feel. It's just not an excuse! I also vow to go to the gym at least one day this week. I've been walking when I have the energy so that's good. It finally stopped raining today so I walked all over base, and then went for a walk after dinner again. Hopefully I can keep myself in check!

I'm off to bed, it's 12:30, the latest I've stayed up in 2 weeks! I'll probably sleep until noon tomorrow if I don't get in bed soon, of course, thats minus the 4 times I'll get up to use the restroom. Sheesh!

Love to you all!
