Funny Story

This is kind of embarrassing, but it's too funny not to share. Taylor and I went out getting a few last things for our trip and when we got back she had a dirty diaper so I changed it and then fed her. Drew took her so I could finish packing up some things and she was being really fussy. It felt like she had a full diaper so he went to change her and when he unzipped her sleep n' play, a sealed up dirty diaper popped out! How on earth I managed that I have no idea. I always seal up the diaper and toss it in the can next to the changing table before I fasten the next diaper. I guess I missed that step, but I certainly don't recall! I thought her butt felt a little bigger than usual.

Anyway, lesson number 342. Dirty diapers are not disposed of in the sleep n' play.

We'll be leaving in about 9 hours!!! Woohoo!!!!

I'm off to load the car.

P.S. Here's a happy picture for you :) Thats some hair huh???

I have bad news

They informed Drew today that he has a month long training thing starting on the 17th of March. He can't push it back or reschedule so we have no choice but to switch up our trip and cram it into 2 weeks. We can't push it back because we have to get Cossie before April 1st, and it will be at least the middle of April before Drew is done with his training.

I'm working out a schedule and I'll call everybody ASAP to see what we can work out. We're both really upset about the whole thing, but there's nothing we can do about it except deal.

Talk soon,
Love Us

Taylor says "Check out how cute I am!"

In her little skirt, and shoes (that of course stay on for 30 seconds at a time). I think I'm gonna Loooooove having a little girl! :)

Pics and a video

As promised, here's the pictures of Taylor getting a kick out of her reflection.

A big grin, you can see her cheeks are a bit red from her rash. It comes and goes, but it's mostly cleared up. Her poor little cheeks are a little rough feeling, but they don't get red too often. When they do we give them a little treatment and it clears back up.

Oh, and I thought this picture was too cute of her sleeping on her boppy. She just finished eating and I moved her to the side so I could eat my dinner without waking her and she stayed perfectly in position.

I know this video is sideways, it didn't dawn on me that I can't flip a video around until I went to play it back. Oops! I hope you don't get a neck-ache looking at it! :) She starts to get mad at the end so we had to cut the video short.

Has it really been over a week?

So sorry I've gotten behind!! I don't know where the week has gone! I feel like I've been doing nothing, yet busy all the time. Funny how that works! Just trying to get prepared for our trip, get some things organized here so we don't come home after a month to a disaster!

We're feeling better here, I still have a bit of a cough, but Taylor has been fine! She's been really talkative this week and smiling all over the place. It cracks us up. She smiles more for Drew than she does for me, he seems to be much more fun.

I have a few pictures to post, but my card reader in my computer came unhooked so i need to take it apart and tighten it down so I can upload the pics. There's a video also of her yelling at her reflection. I'll see if I can't get them up before the weekend is over! 12 days until we leave!!!

Recheck Appointment

Took Taylor back for her recheck appointment. I think our nurse might have split personality disorder. The same crazy lady from yesterday was COMPLETELY different today. She was talking to me, cuddling with Taylor, waited for us to gather our stuff before taking us in a room. It was bizarre! Then she looked at Taylor and said, "she has a head full of dark hair, and blue eyes! She must look like her Dad!" Whaaaaa? I found that quite odd considering I have dark hair (and it was even wet at the time) and blue eyes. Maybe she is crazy?

Anyway, the doctor came in and checked out Taylor, and she is doing great! She seems almost completely better. No more fever, no sneezing, she only coughed a couple of times today, and she was in a great smiling mood. This time the doctor told me how wonderful it was that I was breastfeeding and that helped keep her from getting too sick, yadda yadda yadda. All this after chastising me yesterday for not getting a flu shot.

So we go back in two weeks to get her 8 week check up! Then 5 days after that we HEAD HOME!!!! So excited! The dog gate came today for the Trailblazer so Cossie doesn't jump over the back seat. The snail for the top is on it's way also, so we can put most of our stuff up there and have plenty of room for us and the dog. I hope the next couple weeks goes by quick!

I really dislike the base ped. clinic.

Well, we went to Taylor's appointment today at 11. First the nurse called us back (same one from last time) had me put her on the scale, she weighed 10lbs 1oz with clothes and diaper on. She took her temperature, but she took it under her arm and I'm pretty sure she didn't even have it in the pit! Taylor still felt hot to me, but the thermometer only read 96.5? She got a history, then sent us back to the waiting room until an exam room opened up. 45 minutes later she called us back and once again, ran off before we could gather our things and had to chase her down the hall to follow where she was going.

The doctor came in and got the history again. She said it was a good thing we took her to the ER last night with her fever. She looked her over and said everything else looks good for now, but they worry about complications from the flu (i.e. ear infections and pneumonia) more than the flue itself and theres really nothing we can do about it but give her tylenol for the fever and some saline nose spray to loosen up her stuffy sinuses so I can suck it out with the bulb syringe better.

She then essentially told me I was bad mother for not getting my flu shot and getting my baby sick. I wanted to deck her.

Anyway, she wants to see her again tomorrow and make sure she still looks/sounds good. I have to call first thing in the morning and schedule an appointment, so hopefully they can get me in.

Taylor has the flu

Well it's 12:30AM and we just got home from the E.R. Her fever went up to 100.4, so I thought I'd better take her in just to make sure she was alright. Once there they took her temp again and it was 101.1 so I'm glad we went. They took some swabs to check for flu, and some blood to check for infection. The flu check came back positive. They said she's pretty young for the flu but not much they can do for it. Just treat the fever if it stays up with baby Tylenol. By the time we left her temp was back down to 99.7 so hopefully it wont go up again. We'll follow up with the pediatrician on base tomorrow, but she's hangin' in there for now. Sleeping quietly. She really did great for all the poking and prodding they did! I'll let you know what the pediatrician says tomorrow.

Happy Day before Valentine's Day!

I'm awake and have a little break, but I wanted to give an update and post some pictures while I could!

I'm still sick, I have a nasty productive cough, headache and sinus congestion, but my muscles aren't aching like they were and I don't have chills anymore (so it seems). Unfortunately Taylor came down with a fever today, along with some sneezes and coughs. I called the doc and I'll take her in tomorrow unless her fever gets above 100.4, then I'm to take her to emergency. Otherwise she's not acting sick. She's been quite "talkative" today and not fussy at all even. She's still eating well, and giving us the right amount of dirty diapers, and has been getting good sleep. Oh!! She slept for 4 hours straight in her bassinet last night!! Of course, part of it might be because she isn't feeling so great, but we'll think positive and say it's because she's getting used to it. :)

No big plans for tomorrow besides taking Taylor to the doc. I'm going to get up and cook Drew a big breakfast, I even got his favorite.. strawberry syrup for on top of his waffle. Nothing like the sugary artificial strawberry flavor to start off your day, lol. He likes it though, so that's what matters.

And now, some pics for you :)

In my new heart outfit :)

These photos are actually a few weeks old. I was working on them for a project I had in mind so I didn't want to share them just yet, but it's not quite working out like I had hoped, so I'm sharing them now. Sorry for holding them back for so long!

I'm off to try and get more rest. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day if I don't talk to you tomorrow!

Love,
Me

So sick

Just wanted to make a post and let you know things are going okay here. Taylor is great, but I'm really sick. Not sure what with, but I feel awful. Drew has been a big help so I can try and rest and get better. I'm hoping that Taylor doesn't catch whatever I have because it's not good! It started Saturday and has gotten progressively worse to today. If I'm not showing some improvement by tomorrow I'll call and see if I can't get a doctors appointment.

I'm off to try and get some more sleep.

Today's appointment

I took Taylor to the doctor today to get her rash checked out. He agreed that it was not baby acne and said it's infant Sebborheic Dermatitis (a.k.a. Sebborhea), also the same thing that causes cradle cap, though her head, thank goodness is fine at the moment. He said it often will affect quadrants above from the shoulders up which is why it's mostly on the left side of her face/neck and shoulders. She only has a mild case right now, the most severe part being on her ear lobes. He said to get some selsun blue and put a light amount on her affected areas, let it sit for a few minutes, then wash it off. He said it may take a few weeks to clear up, but it should help. He said it often affects infants, but she should outgrow it. It doesn't have anything to do with an allergic reaction to anything, so I'm glad to know it's not that.

Oh, she also weighed in at 9lbs 1oz! He checked out the rest of her and said she was in great health. He also reminded me that the stork bite on her forehead would fade away, but that the one on the back of her neck probably would not. I guess a lot of parents get concerned about the ones on the face not going away. Of course the thought sits in the back of my mind, but mine is gone I'm sure hers will go too!

We had a bit of a rough night last night. I think her face was itching her because she was fussy and kept rubbing at her face and ears and did not want to go to sleep. She'd finally get to sleeping and her eyes would pop open and she would start squirming and rubbing. I finally called the nurse advice line on base and asked if a 1% hydrocortisone lotion would be okay to put on her to help with the itching so she could rest and they said that would be okay, but just a very thin layer. So we did just that and it seemed to help quite a bit. She finally fell asleep for a few hours. Just when we were getting on somewhat of a decent schedule too!! Well, hopefully this treatment will help so we can get back to it.

I'll post more later, and I have a couple of more pics to upload, but for now.. I need a nap!

We got it!

Drew finally got a video of Taylor smiling today! It's too cute, so here it is so you can see for yourself:

Things are still going well here. She slept for 4 hours straight last night, and again this evening! It's amazing! She does however, have either baby acne, or a rash. It's mostly on the right side of her face, and her right shoulder, but she has a few spots on the left side as well, mostly on the neck, so I'm wondering if it's a reaction to something. The rest of her body is fine, so I don't think it's the detergent we are using, so just in case I washed all of the things she lays her head on (her swing, chair and boppy), and we'll try covering them up with a receiving blanket when we put her on them just in case. since she seems to be okay with those. I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if they think we should bring her in to have them look at it anyway. It seems to bother me more than it bothers her, but if it's something we can get rid of it would certainly make me feel better!

I'm off to bed for now, but just wanted to post this video for you!
