Today's appointment

I took Taylor to the doctor today to get her rash checked out. He agreed that it was not baby acne and said it's infant Sebborheic Dermatitis (a.k.a. Sebborhea), also the same thing that causes cradle cap, though her head, thank goodness is fine at the moment. He said it often will affect quadrants above from the shoulders up which is why it's mostly on the left side of her face/neck and shoulders. She only has a mild case right now, the most severe part being on her ear lobes. He said to get some selsun blue and put a light amount on her affected areas, let it sit for a few minutes, then wash it off. He said it may take a few weeks to clear up, but it should help. He said it often affects infants, but she should outgrow it. It doesn't have anything to do with an allergic reaction to anything, so I'm glad to know it's not that.

Oh, she also weighed in at 9lbs 1oz! He checked out the rest of her and said she was in great health. He also reminded me that the stork bite on her forehead would fade away, but that the one on the back of her neck probably would not. I guess a lot of parents get concerned about the ones on the face not going away. Of course the thought sits in the back of my mind, but mine is gone I'm sure hers will go too!

We had a bit of a rough night last night. I think her face was itching her because she was fussy and kept rubbing at her face and ears and did not want to go to sleep. She'd finally get to sleeping and her eyes would pop open and she would start squirming and rubbing. I finally called the nurse advice line on base and asked if a 1% hydrocortisone lotion would be okay to put on her to help with the itching so she could rest and they said that would be okay, but just a very thin layer. So we did just that and it seemed to help quite a bit. She finally fell asleep for a few hours. Just when we were getting on somewhat of a decent schedule too!! Well, hopefully this treatment will help so we can get back to it.

I'll post more later, and I have a couple of more pics to upload, but for now.. I need a nap!

I am glad to hear that she will outgrow it. You can see that she is gaining weight, she had a cute doble cheen. You are given her the best of you, breast milk will give her all that she need for her growing.
